Høje-Taastrup Kommune has built up a cross-municipal data network through the ELEXIA Project

LoRaWAN is a low-power, wide area networking system. It wirelessly connects devices to the internet and manages communication between end-node devices and network gateways.

“In Høje-Taastrup we have set up five outdoor LoRaWAN antennas at our schools that cover the municipality's geography. Through these gateways, we will be able to communicate and collect #data from our indoor climate sensors and consumption meters wirelessly and monitor them.“

This is a cornerstone in the work towards making municipal buildings flexible in their energy consumption.

LoRaWAn gives us the opportunity to gain better insight into how the conditions in schools, offices and kindergartens can be improved when we get information about temperature, CO2, humidity, etc. in the municipality's premises and see how we can save energy in the municipal buildings.

Usage of LoRaWAN in smart cities is growing because it is an affordable long-range, bi-directional communication protocol with very low power consumpt
