Meet Predicer (Predictive Decider) and its connectivity tool Hertta

In the Elexia Project, VTT aims:

  • to integrate #opensource tools for planning and operating local energy systems into a powerful Digital Services Platform (DSP) tailored for local site managers and urban planners. A key component of this platform is Predicer, an advanced optimization engine designed to maximize profits for professional users and minimize costs for household users through stochastic multi-stage optimization.

A recent milestone in the project is the development of an event loop that acts as an API connection to Predicer. This allows us to computationally send input data to Predicer, execute the optimization process, and retrieve results seamlessly. Moreover, the system can incorporate real-time forecasts, such as weather and electricity prices, enhancing the optimization process.

The above diagram illustrates how Predicer interacts with the DSP via a Connectivity API. In the future, Predicer will feature a control and monitoring dashboard and an event loop for efficient operations management.

The Connectivity API enables smooth data exchange between the Predicer application and external devices through various protocols. The Digital Services Platform (DSP) encompasses middleware services, Apache CloudStack, and a data lake for robust data management and processing.

This innovative integration within the Elexia Project promises to revolutionize the way local energy systems are managed, providing significant benefits to both professional and household users.

VTT’s next step is to develop the Connectivity API further and integrate it with the event loop. This will allow us to seamlessly utilize the resources of the DSP within the Predicer optimization tool, enhancing our energy system optimization capabilities.
